Engage Your Followers.
We hear it again and again: social media is essential to growing your business. But how? You’ve probably been posting and not seeing any growth or change. The same five people like your photo (thanks, Mom!) and you’re not seeing much growth.
Let’s discuss some of the best ways to improve your social media’s performance so it reaches your audience, and ensure it’s connecting with your ideal hostel traveler.
TIP 1: POST ON A SCHEDULE
You do not have to post every day to grow your page. However, you do want to post regularly, and on a consistent schedule. If you create a schedule (say you post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays) do not skip a day! Always post to your feed on those days. Then, to supplement, post quick little photos and videos in your Stories 4-5 days a week.
TIP 2: BE SURE TO INTERACT
Don’t be a robot. Everyone loves a comment or thoughtful DM. After you post, spend about 5-10 minutes engaging with the accounts you follow. Comment. Send a DM. Reply to their story. Then, hop off the app and consider you social media homework for the day complete!
TIP 3: PRACTICE YOUR PHONE PHOTOGRAPHY.
We get it. Pro photos are expensive. Maybe guests aren’t yet tagging you in their trip photos. No worries, it’s time to pull out your camera phone, wipe off the camera lense, and start snapping pics around the hostel.
Change up your angles (shoot from down low, or up high) and be sure to edit your photos so they are welcoming and inviting, and guests have lots to look forward to!
Curious what you should take photos of?
Guest areas, like rooms, beds, the kitchen, lounge area… anywhere guests will enjoy during their stay, you want to promote. SHOW THEM what they are getting when they book with you.
Do you have food and bev on site? Have a meal or drink and take photos!
Yourself! Hop in those photos and show guests who you are and what you love about your hostel. Yep, you will feel awkward. Don’t worry - you look amazing, sweetie.
Try these tips for a month, and see how much you grow! You may be surprised by the results!
